David is Co-founder & CEO of Premise, a San Francisco company building machinery to help the human race better understand its own economic activity. Premise is backed by Social+Capital Partnership, Google Ventures, Andreessen Horowitz, Harrison Metal and Bowery Capital.
David is also a Venture Partner at Bowery Capital, a thesis-driven early-stage investor focused on backing exceptional founders building companies that transform the way corporations spend money on marketing and technology.
In addition, he serves on Columbia University’s Institute for Data Sciences and Engineering. The goal of the Institute is to deepen a culture of translational research and scholarship that can address the unprecedented challenges and opportunities posed by a data-rich society. Appointed by Lee Bollinger, President of Columbia University, Institute leadership is comprised of leading technology Entrepreneurs and VCs.
David was formerly the founding CEO of Metamarkets, a world leader in large-scale data analytics, funded by Khosla Ventures.
David has an academic background in Linguistics, History and Economics, with an undergraduate degree from Columbia University and graduate degree from University of California, Berkeley.
