David S. Rose

David S. Rose is a serial entrepreneur and active angel investor who has been described by Red Herring magazine as the “patriarch of Silicon Alley”.

Over 25 years he has founded or funded more than 75 early stage technology companies and been called a “world conquering entrepreneur” by BusinessWeek. An Inc. 500 CEO (for founding boom-era wireless pioneer AirMedia), he is known in the East Coast technology community for discovering and mentoring high-potential entrepreneurs. He is a regular speaker at Yale, Harvard, Columbia and NYU business schools, and was a founding member of the New York New Media Association.

Rose is an active early stage technology investor. He is the founder and Chairman of New York Angels, a large technology investment; Managing Principal of Rose Tech Ventures, which invests in scalable, Internet-based business; and Chairman of Egret Capital Partners, a middle market private equity firm. He founded and runs a technology incubator in New York City; consults to corporations and government agencies; and is an active keynote speaker.

From his initial involvement with the first online communities in the 1970s, through founding one of the first personal computer training companies in the 1980s, one of the first wireless data information networks in the 1990s, and the first global angel investing platform in the 2000s, Rose has been a longtime player in the development of the ‘Silicon Alley’ technology community in New York.

Rose is currently Chairman and CEO of Angelsoft, which operates the international collaboration platform for early stage angel investing, and is a member of the boards of directors of KoolSpan, Inc., Pond5, Comixology, and Magnify Networks. He also serves as an investor in companies including BioScale, DropIO, eJamming, Panjiva, CE Interactive, Mashery, Metaphor Solutions, Space Adventures, Luxology, and over five dozen other early stage ventures.

A native New Yorker, Rose is a graduate of the New York City public school system and Horace Mann High School. He is an Associate Fellow of Pierson College at Yale University, a member of the Entrepreneurship Advisory Board of Columbia Business School, a Lifetime Professional Member of the World Future Society, and an Advisory Board member of the Liminal Group. He is profiled in Marquis Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who in Business and Industry.
