David Katz

David Katz, VP/GM of Consumer Mobile at Groupon, is the global leader of the company’s mobile business. Groupon has mobile apps in over forty countries and nearly 40% of Groupon’s North America transactions now take place on mobile devices. David joined Groupon as VP/GM of Retail Solutions, where he led the acquisition of OpenCal and the national launch of Groupon Scheduler before moving over to the mobile team in July 2012.

Prior to Groupon, David worked across the mobile business at Yahoo!, serving first as corporate development and strategy lead, later as VP of Mobile Advertising and, beginning in 2009, as VP of Mobile for North America.

Before joining Yahoo, David spent four and a half years with McKinsey & Company as a consultant in the San Francisco office and a member of the Technology, Telecom and Media (TTM) practice. At McKinsey, David served clients in a variety of technology areas including mobile, interactive TV and enterprise software. David has also been active in public affairs and has had roles in four US Presidential campaigns.

David received both a BA and MBA from the University of California, Berkeley. He currently lives in San Francisco, CA with his wife Amy Wertheimer, a psychologist in private practice
