As senior vice president of Media and Advertising Solutions within the Digital Marketing Business at Adobe, Karnstedt leads the company’s global digital marketing efforts across search, display, social media and video advertising. Prior to Adobe, he was CEO and president of Efficient Frontier, a leader in optimizing multi-channel digital advertising, which was acquired by Adobe in January 2012. In this role, Karnstedt was responsible for Efficient Frontier’s overall strategy, management and operations. He is considered a digital media expert and has been featured by mainstream business press as well as an author in publications such as Forbes and Ad Age.
Before joining Efficient Frontier in 2009, Karnstedt served as executive-in-residence for Redpoint Ventures, which invested in the company. Prior to Redpoint, he served as senior vice president of Yahoo!’s North American Sales with responsibility for more than $3 billion in revenue. At Yahoo!, Karnstedt successfully led the integration of the search and display sales teams into one central unit and helped establish Yahoo! as a recognized leader in both display and search marketing.
Preceding Yahoo!, Karnstedt led the direct sales team at Overture Services, the company that pioneered the paid search industry and was acquired by Yahoo! in 2003. He also served as vice president and general manager of Alta Vista, where he was responsible for the consumer business and helped shape product development and marketing strategies that leveraged the auctions-based search approach. Prior to Alta Vista, Karnstedt served as western advertising director at Wired Digital where he helped develop some of the first advertising models on the web.
Karnstedt currently serves on the board of directors of Jumptap and is a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization. He holds a B.A. in Speech Communication from the University of Illinois.
