David Frankel

David Frankel is a Venture Partner with Blueprint Ventures. David brings more than 20 years of entrepreneurial, technology, investment and executive experience to the Blueprint Ventures team. He is recognized as a technology executive able to bridge technical, managerial, regulatory and financing issues and help management teams drive towards differentiation in the marketplace.

David’s technology interests include wireline and mobile communications, high-performance computing, and IT infrastructure.

Previously, David was the Founder and CTO of Jetstream Communications, a pioneering developer of voice-over-packet systems backed by Canaan, Crosspoint, Mayfield, Mohr Davidow, MCI/Worldcom, Nortel, and others. Prior to its acquisition by Paradyne, Jetstream successfully shipped more than $50 million of products to carriers in North America, Asia, and Europe. As a seasoned Silicon Valley entrepreneur, David brings a deep understanding of technology, company building, fundraising, business development, and marketing. In addition, he brings deep relationships with equipment providers and carriers.

David also served as Vice President of Engineering at Tricord Systems, a leading developer of Intel-based server computers. Earlier, at ETA Systems, David was Director of Systems Engineering for the company’s line of supercomputers.

David started his career at Control Data Corporation, working with semiconductor CAD tools and chip design automation. He holds three US patents, with several US and international applications pending. He is also a member of the IEEE.

David holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois.

David’s current board responsibilities include KeyEye Communications and WiSpry. David is a licensed commercial pilot and enjoys flying his single engine airplane in and out of Palo Alto airport.
