David Beebe is an entrepreneurial driven Digital Media Executive who has founded two digital studios and has over fifteen years experience developing and producing innovative digital programming – including scripted and unscripted derivative series, original series, and live shows for internet, mobile, DVD, radio, television, and other emerging digital products and platforms.
Beebe is currently Vice President & General Manager, Digital Studio, at FishBowl Worldwide Media. He founded the digital studio organization with FishBowl’s President & CEO Bruce Gersh and Chairman Vin Di Bona. Beebe is responsible for leading all digital studio activities, including creative, production, strategy, operations, and P&L management. The digital studio includes among its projects the hit web series, CuteWinFail, which is ranked in the YouTube Comedy Channel Top 20 with more than 25 million video views, Ultimate Proposal, an original series for Yahoo!, and the animated web series The Potts.
Prior to joining FishBowl Worldwide Media, Beebe was Vice President, Digital Studio, a division he founded at the Disney-ABC Television Group. Reporting to Albert Cheng, EVP, Digital Media, Beebe was charged with overseeing and leading the general management, creative development, and physical production of all digital programming for Disney-ABC Television Group’s diverse portfolio of broadcast and cable networks, including ABC Entertainment, ABC Daytime, ABC Family, and SOAPnet. During his six years at Disney/ABC, Beebe oversaw development and production of derivative series for Ugly Betty, Scrubs, Cougar Town, and Grey’s Anatomy. He also oversaw development and production of over 100 original series, including Life With Confidence for Extreme Makeover Home Edition, Stars Go Green, and the Emmy nominated Mysteries of the Universe: The Dharma Initiative. Shot on film, Mysteries was a transmedia production, effecting live events (Comic-Con), on-air, online, DVD, and print ads. Beebe also led the digital video production team that produced the groundbreaking and Emmy winning 2011 Oscar Live Experience on Oscar.com. Beebe was also the Project Manager for the industry disrupting and Emmy winning Full Episode player on ABC.com.
Before joining Disney/ABC, Beebe spent seven years at DIRECTV in a variety of broadcast operations, production, and digital positions. As Senior Editor & Producer, Beebe was responsible for developing, writing, and producing content for DIRECTV.com and programming for DIRECTV’s on-air promo channels. He also worked in broadcast operations, programming, and production roles at the Marina Del Rey Broadcast Center and Long Beach Broadcast Center.
During a multiyear production deal at Showtime Networks, Beebe Executive Produced six documentary style DVD Bonus Features for the hit series Queer as Folk for three seasons.
Beebe also freelanced for Venice Magazine, where he interviewed television and movie celebrities and wrote over fifty feature articles for the magazine.
Beebe started his career in the United States Coast Guard as a Communications Specialist, where he held a Top Secret clearance, and was responsible for leading radio communication teams during search and rescue and law enforcement operations. He graduated from the USCG Communications School and received an Honorable Discharge. While in the Coast Guard, Beebe freelanced at a local radio station as an on-air news reporter and produced radio commercials.
Passionate about engaging in thoughtful conversations about digital media, Beebe has been a featured speaker at industry events organized by Digital Hollywood, Digital LA, OMMA Video, Streaming Media West & East, International Radio and Television Society, and the International Academy of Web Television.
An active member of the community, Beebe has been appointed to several public official roles for the City of West Hollywood, first on the Eastside Project Development Advisory Council and then on the Los Angeles County Vector Control Board. He’s also served as a board member for Christopher Street West, leading the digital media and broadcast efforts of the organization for two years.
