Dave Winer

Dave Winer is a software developer and entrepreneur. He was the lead developer of RSS (also known as “Really Simple Syndication”) and OPML, and the MetaWeblog API. He co-developed the XML-RPC and SOAP protocols with Microsoft.

Winer is one of the earliest bloggers, wrote the first commercial blogging software, and co-invented podcasting with Adam Curry.

He founded two tech companies, Living Videotext, which was acquired by Symantec in 1987 and UserLand Software.

He is the author of Scripting News, one of the oldest blogs, established in 1997.
