Darren Berkovitz — cinema enthusiast, high-tech junkie, and laugh practitioner — has an instinct for identifying great ideas and the business savvy to turn them into profitable companies. Darren develops strategic partnerships and accounts, executes company- wide strategy, and evangelizes TeleSign within the industry. He focuses his time working with consumer web properties and mobile apps, helping them fully leverage the capabilities of mobile identity.
By collaborating with security and end-user groups at the world’s largest online companies, Berkovitz was instrumental in setting up the industry standard for mobile registration. A UI and workflow that is now deployed by some of the most popular website and mobile apps.
Berkovitz was key to establishing TeleSign’s new Silicon Valley office in Sunnyvale, CA. This location enabled TeleSign to offer local clients a superior level of service. In addition to his work with strategic clients, Berkovitz also serves as managing director of the Sunnyvale team, which included recruiting and onboarding the team.
He also established TeleSign's intellectual property program, which involves translating inventions to patent applications. He secured several strategic patents for TeleSign, including PhoneID and TeleBureau.
In 2005, Darren was a part of the TeleSign founding team who took an idea and turned it into an enterprise-grade system that was adopted by the world's leading web companies. Darren oversaw the continued revenue growth of TeleSign by improving its technology and increasing the company's operational capabilities.
Before TeleSign, Darren worked at Metro Enterprises, an Internet incubating company, where he developed several Internet start-ups that provide value at the intersection of Internet and telephony.
Darren is a frequent speaker at meetings and conferences, including the SC World Congress. He has been featured in hundreds of media outlets, including Good Morning America, Entrepreneur.com, MSNBC.com, CNN, Esquire Magazine, San Francisco Chronicle, and NPR. In 2011, Darren was selected to be “Entrepreneur in Residence” at the Leatherby Center for Entrepreneurship at Chapman University.
