As SVP of Finance and Strategy for Comcast’s Digital Entertainment business unit, Dan is a key participant in determining the business’s strategy and vision. He is responsible for Finance, Strategy, and Business Intelligence for the division. Prior to that, from November 2009 to October 2010, he led Finance, Strategy and Business Development for Comcast Interactive Media where he was instrumental in transforming how Finance and Business Development operated. Murray was CFO of Fandango from November 2006 to November 2009, where he oversaw the sale of Fandango to Comcast and the purchase of Movies.com and helped integrate the acquisition of DailyCandy.
From April 2005 to September 2006, Dan was SVP of Operations and CFO for Academy123, a venture-funded start-up that was sold successfully to Discovery Communication after less than two years of operations. Prior to Academy123, Dan was VP of International Finance at Yahoo! from October 2003 to October 2004, where he was responsible for both FP&A and Controllership functions for businesses representing more than 30% of company revenues. Dan worked at Overture from 2001 until its acquisition by Yahoo!; there he led Finance for the Company’s start-up International business unit. Dan helped set the strategy for International, drove the Plan implementation and helped realize the growth of International from less than $1M to more than $1B in annualized revenue in less than four years.
Prior to Overture, Dan worked for 15 years in the consumer products and financial services industries. During part of this time, Dan lived in China where he worked as the Deputy General Manager of a start-up joint-venture funded, in part, by the Quaker Oats Company. Dan holds a MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management, a BS in Finance from Penn State University, and is a CPA.
