Dan Silmore

Dan Silmore was named vice president of marketing at AllBusiness in September 2005 and leads strategic marketing activities for the Company. He participated in the successful exit for this VantagePoint and Sutter Hill-backed Company through a $55M sale to Dun & Bradstreet in 11/07. He manages corporate and consumer marketing, public relations, audience acquisition and traffic growth through SEO and SEM, market research and advertising operations. He is also responsible for the P&L for performance marketing revenue, including CPC advertising networks, lead generation and direct vendor revenue. Silmore brings more than 15 years of marketing, online media, and financial services experience to AllBusiness.

Prior to AllBusiness, he served as general manager of Dow Jones’ MarketWatch Network of consumer Web sites — MarketWatch.com (formerly CBS.MarketWatch.com), BigCharts.com and VirtualStockExchange.com. He had been MarketWatch’s vice president of marketing prior to the acquisition of the company by Dow Jones in January 2005. Other previous roles include director of consumer marketing for the CBS HealthWatch Web site of Medscape, Inc., and vice president of e-commerce marketing for Wells Fargo’s business Internet services division.
