Claire manages CI’s full array of business startup and growth initiatives, which include diverse lending programs, venture and equity investment funds, and programs to support innovation, entrepreneurship, collaboration and commercialization. Claire is a veteran investment and venture capital executive with more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry.
Claire demonstrated her passion for helping startup and growing companies, as well as nonprofits, most recently in upstate New York, where she offered advice on capital structure and funding, strategic planning, and performance improvement. Her distinguished background includes senior positions with Fairview Capital L.P. and Crossroads Capital, one of the largest private equity fund-of-fund managers in the U.S., where she managed venture capital portfolios for large institutional clients. Claire also led strategic investments for Phoenix Home Life Mutual Insurance Co. She is an active investor and oversees administration of the Connecticut Stem Cell Research Fund, the state’s investment in The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine, and the Angel Investor Tax Credit Program.
In addition to her work experience, Claire gained tremendous insights into health care delivery, bioscience research and education during her long tenure as Chair of the Board of Directors of the University of Connecticut Health Center. She also served as Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees for the University of Connecticut.
Claire earned an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania with an emphasis on finance and entrepreneurship, and a Bachelor of Arts degree, with a dual major in business administration and economics, from Rutgers University.
