Carrie Layne is the Founder and CEO of Best Of, Inc. and Ripple Marketing. Carrie graduated from UT Austin with a BS in Advertising in 1999. After college, she moved to San Francisco and worked at Saatchi & Saatchi Interactive, where her clients included Proctor & Gamble, HP Instant Delivery, and Barclay’s Global iShares. Carrie moved back to Austin, TX and worked at start-ups, including Mall.com and Hoovers.com, until Hoovers was bought by D&B in 2003. As a hobby in Austin, Carrie also co-founded and played with the Texas Rollergirls Roller Derby, which now has over 300 leagues around the world.
While on vacation in the Cayman Islands, Carrie was offered a job and she moved to Grand Cayman in 2003. She founded Ripple Marketing, a software technology and interactive advertising company in 2005. BestofCayman.com and BestoftheCaribbean.com are websites used by locals and tourists to find all the best restaurants, bars, activities, shopping, etc.
Best Of, Inc. was formed when Carrie expanded into the US market in 2007 and launched BestofTexas.com. Following the success of numerous “BestOf” branded websites, and seeing a unique opportunity the market, Layne launched a social, local, mobile application called BestBuzz.
The company is moving full speed ahead and adding more social media tools and mobile marketing features to their platform. BestBuzz is a new distribution channel and marketing tool that local business owners, charitable organizations, corporate brands, PR and marketing firms, and advertising agencies are incorporating into their social media, marketing, and advertising strategies.
Carrie spends a majority of her time traveling and working between Cayman, Austin, and Dallas and attending trade shows and networking events. The company currently has 15 employees with offices in Dallas, TX and Grand Cayman.
