Before joining General Catalyst Partners, Brian Shortsleeve was at H.I.G. Capital, a middle-market private equity fund where he worked on a variety of investments in the business services, information technology products and services, value-added manufacturing, and software industries. Before H.I.G. Capital, he was a consultant with Bain & Company in Boston, advising middle-market corporate clients on growth strategy, merger integration, and cost rationalization. Brian also worked in Bain's private equity group performing competitive, market, and profitability analysis on new deals and on portfolio investments. He served as an officer in the United States Marine Corps for four years before business school, deploying to the Persian Gulf and Bosnia-Herzegovina as part of the Third Marine Air Wing.

As a Managing Director of General Catalyst Partners, Brian leads growth investments in later-stage companies that are at an inflection point and are seeking a value-added partner as they scale. He is based in the firm’s Cambridge office.

Brian is a graduate of Harvard College, earning a B.A. in History, and Harvard Business School, where he received an MBA.
