Hailed by Entrepreneur Magazine in May 2008 as a “social networking expert,” Wovchko has leveraged his no-nonsense approach to building successful online brands in music business to the emerging market of social networking since 2005. Acting as a strategic consultant for Sweden-based software start-up phpFox, Wovchko helped fine tune their product to appeal to the fast-growing “niche social network” space. After driving phpFox’s acquisition of more than 2,000 customers Wovchko joined Sparta Social Networks, then the producer of the only licensable, enterprise-ready social network platform. Wovchko was responsible for the acquisition and management of accounts with Hearst-Argyle, AOL, Ford, Oxygen, Jo-Ann Fabrics, and Participant Productions.
Upon the acquisition of both phpFox and Sparta Social Networks, Wovchko returned to his roots as a technologist, purposing to develop meaningful technology solutions to serve the social media needs of music organizations and independent artists. In 2006 Wovchko co-founded ArtistData and in 2007 co-founded Bandbox. After successfully launching both both products in Spring 2008, Wovchko turned his full focus to developing ArtistData. He continues to serve Bandbox as a member of their Board of Directors. Wovchko enjoys history, public speaking, and is helping shape the debate on how technology and social media is shaping the future of music business.
