Bill Cook is President of EMC’s Greenplum division. With revenues of $21.7 billion in 2012 and 60,000 people worldwide, EMC is a global leader in enabling businesses and service providers to transform their operations and deliver IT as a service. Fundamental to this transformation is cloud computing. Through innovative products and services, EMC accelerates the journey to cloud computing, helping IT departments to store, manage, protect, and analyze their most valuable asset—information—in a more agile, trusted and cost-efficient way.
Mr. Cook is responsible for driving Greenplum’s strategic direction and delivery of the next generation of data warehousing and analytics to some of the world’s most successful companies. Under Cook’s leadership, Greenplum grew from a start-up to helping EMC become a leader in Big Data, including acquiring the gold standard in agile software development, Pivotal Labs. Bill Cook reports to EMC’s President & Chief Operating Officer, David Goulden.
Prior to joining Greenplum, Cook served in several leadership positions in the IT industry. He spent 19 years at Sun Microsystems, most recently as Senior Vice President of US Sales. In this position he led a field force of 3,500 with revenues in excess of $5 billion. Additionally while at Sun, Bill helped lead the Sun worldwide storage business unit, as well as implementing Sun’s global account model and strategic sales organization.
