Ashwini Chhabra is the Deputy Commissioner for Policy at the New York City Taxi & Limousine Commission, where he is responsible for shaping the city's policies on taxi-related technology, including taxi hailing, car service and ridesharing apps. In addition, he oversees several of the city's in-house taxi technology initiatives -- including upgrades to in-cab technology systems, testing of electric vehicle technology for taxi use, and the city's efforts to leverage technology to connect disabled passengers with wheelchair-accessible taxis. He also directs policy on issues ranging from taxi fares to driver health insurance.
Prior to joining the taxi commission, he worked in the Mayor's Office and the Department of Education, where he worked to expand charter schools throughout the city. He is a graduate of Williams College and Yale Law School.
