Ashar founded FireEye in 2004 and has served as a member of the Board of Directors since February 2004. Ashar served as Chief Executive Officer from February 2004 to November 2012, as Vice Chairman of the Board and Chief Strategy Officer from November 2012 to May 2016, and as Chief Technology Officer from November 2012 to April 2014.
Prior to FireEye, Ashar founded Terraspring, Inc., which was acquired by Sun Microsystems, Inc., in November 2002. Following the acquisition, he and served as Chief Technology Officer of the Sun N1 program until October 2003.
Prior to Terraspring, Ashar spent 12 years at Sun Microsystems as a distinguished engineer focused on networking and network security. He currently serves on the board of directors of a number of privately held technology companies.
Ashar holds an S.B. in electrical engineering and computer science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an M.S. in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of California, Berkeley, where he received the U.C. Regents Fellowship.
