Antonio is a Microsoft Principal Development Manager, Bing. He works on Search technologies and leads the engineering development for Query Analysis, Clustering, Classification, Ranking, News & Multimedia coordinating all the Devs in London, U.K and Wroclaw, Poland.
Previously, Antonio served as CTO, Europe and UK for Ask.com. He started the first European R&D Ask.com Center as Director of Advanced Search Products, managing teams of people in U.S. and in Europe. He led many projects including Image search, News & Realtime, Fresh suggestions, Realtime Q&A (co-lead), Realtime web search from News and Blogs, and News video search (lead). Before joining Ask.com, Antonio served as CEO of Ideare, one of the earliest search companies in Europe. Antonio co-founded Ideare and sold it to Tiscali a public company. Back in 1998, Antonio co-developed Arianna the first Italian search engine, and provided automatic Web classification technologies to Fireball the first German search engine.
He earned his Computer Science. Ph.D, his Engineering B.S., and his C.S. B.S. from University of Pisa, Italy. He has authored more than twenty refereed publications, several patents, and he currently serves as PC member of many international conferences including WWW, SIGIR, ICDM, ECIR, and SPIRE
