Andy Palmer is a serial entrepreneur who specializes in accelerating the growth of early-stage, mission-driven startups.
Andy’s passion for projects at the intersection of computer science and the life sciences (particularly cancer drug development) have compelled him to found and fund more than 50 innovative companies in technology and health care. On the rugby pitch and in the conference room, Andy is driven, spirited, and keen.
Andy studied English, History and Computer Science at Bowdoin College and is a graduate of The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth. Since graduating in the 1990’s, he has had a hand in shaping and building small companies in their most formative stages. Subsequently, he has founded, funded or otherwise cultivated more than 50 startups. Andy’s strong leadership was most prevalent in his involvement with Vertica (a Big Data company acquired by Hewlett Packard), Cloudswitch (enterprise Cloud Computing company acquired by Verizon), and Recorded Future (cyber threat intelligence invested in by Google and the CIA).
Most recently, Andy co-founded DataTamer, a Big-Data curation company, and Koa Labs, a start-up club in the heart of Harvard Square, Cambridge, MA. Andy was also named 2013 Angel Investor of the Year, as well as one of the CIO 100 Award recipients.
