BACKGROUND
Early detection is the best way to cure cancer. Testicular and Prostate Cancer the two most common male-specific cancers, whilst are curable if caught in their early stages, cause over 800,000 deaths a year.
The underlying reason why so many men are needlessly loosing their lives to male cancer is due to:
• no education and a lack of awareness about male cancers. • embarrassment about discussing or talking about their nether regions. • the average man believes he is invincible and can overcome anything.
In 2009 after hearing a story of how a 19-year-old boy needlessly lost his life to testicular cancer after speaking up too late about a lump in his testicle, brothers Andrew and Simon Salter set up ALIVE to pioneer what is set to become the most engaging and entertaining campaign and largest live broadcasted event ever staged with a vision of ‘a world where there is a significant presence in every nation of positive awareness of male cancer prevention, early detection, and discovery’ and the mission of ‘eliminating male cancer as a cause of death’.
