Amreesh is an exceptional executive and a change-agent; recognized for his leadership, technology insights and relentless focus on achieving results. He has extensive experience in developing and delivering innovative products and technologies for the mobile devices, wireless and wire-line infrastructure, and navigation markets.
Amreesh is
currently a Managing Partner/Founder of Caprigo Ventures, which is engaged in investing and mentoring early-stage technology companies in the areas of software, wireless and health-care technologies.
Most recently, Amreesh has been EVP & Chief Technology Officer at NAVTEQ Corporation. He drove technology roadmap for the company; and was responsible for R&D/product development across all its businesses: Digital Maps, Content, Traffic and Services. The technology innovations enabled the company to significantly increase year-over-year revenues, expand into new markets, e.g., Location Based Services, and reduce costs through automation and process improvements. NAVTEQ was acquired by Nokia for 8.1 billion dollars.
Before joining NAVTEQ in 2006, Amreesh served in a variety of executive positions at Motorola, where he led the development of industry’s first Short Message Service (SMS) application, and played a pivotal role in the introduction of the first CDMA cellular infrastructure system. He helped pioneer company's world-wide software strategy and led the Motorola Global Software Division.
Prior to Motorola, Amreesh spent 15 years at AT&T Bell Labs in many engineering and product management roles, and was significantly involved in the pioneering design work on self-healing networks and database systems for the 5ESS Switch, the first digital switching system in the world.
Amreesh holds a MS in Electrical & Computer Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an MBA from the University of Chicago. He is a long-time resident of Chicago area. He has travelled extensively around the world for business and pleasure.
