Dr. Mehrotra co-founded Berkeley Design Automation in 2003 and is responsible for developing breakthrough nanometer circuit verification technology in such areas as circuit-level accuracy, massive convergence, industry-leading performance, and analysis of advanced physical effects.
Amit continues to drive the strategic technology leadership of Berkeley Design Automation.
Amit received his B. Tech. in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology at Kanpur in 1994, and M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley in 1996 and 1999, respectively.
His doctoral dissertation was a fundamental contribution to the area of noise analysis and design of analog and RF integrated circuits.
From 1999 to 2003, Amit was an Assistant Professor with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and a research assistant professor with the Illinois Center for Integrated Micro-Systems group at the Coordinated Science Laboratory of the university.
At IIT Kanpur, Amit received the President of India Gold Medal, the highest award given by the institute for academic excellence.
Amit has received numerous awards for his publications including best paper awards in the 1997 International Conference on Computer Design, the 2001 Design Automation Conference, and the 2009 Design Automation Conference.
