Amit Kapur

Amit Kapur is the Former Chief Operating Officer of MySpace. In this role, Amit oversees global business operations for MySpace.com, MySpace Music, and MySpace Mobile. He is also responsible for business development, strategic partnerships, and support operations across these platforms.

Amit joined MySpace in its startup phase as the company’s first business development employee. In this early role, he led business and product growth initiatives such as developing the company’s first globalization strategy and negotiating partnerships with the major mobile carriers.

In 2006, as Vice President of Business Development, Amit’s team helped successfully structure key strategic partnerships for MySpace including the historic monetization deal with Google and the company’s first music licensing pact with Sony BMG.

In 2008 the American India Foundation honored Amit for MySpace’s corporate support of India. That same year, Digital Media Wire named Amit to their inaugural “25 Executives to Watch in Digital Entertainment” list, which recognizes emerging leaders in the digital media and entertainment industries.

Before joining MySpace, Kapur was in the business development and strategy group at NBC-Universal where he was responsible for evaluating opportunities to exploit universal content through licensing, distribution deals, and short-form content creation. He was also responsible for analyzing all major film investments including in-house productions, acquisitions, co-productions, distribution deals, and rights sales.

In 2003, Amit received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and Advanced Thermal Sciences from Stanford University.
