Sun Wenhai (Alvin) joined GGV Capital’s Shanghai Office as a Partner in early 2008. Prior to GGV, Alvin was the Executive Director of ePlanet Ventures (previously DFJ ePlanet Ventures), taking charge of the business development and operations of the fund in the Greater China area. Alvin also set up ePlanet’s Beijing office, and during his six years there, led and participated in 14 investments in China, including KongZhong (NASDAQ: KONG), Long Cheer (SGX: L28), Focus Media (NASDAQ: FMCN), Spreadtrum (NASDAQ: SPRD). On behalf of ePlanet, Alvin served as a Board Director of 7 portfolio companies, including G-Media, Kaitone and Incesoft, and Board Observer of 3 portfolio companies, including Hisoft and iKang Group.
Prior to ePlanet, Alvin worked for China International Capital Corporation (CICC) and was also an engineer and Project Manager of a state-owned company.
Alvin received his MBA degree from the joint-program between M.I.T. and Tsinghua University, and his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering from Beijing Science & Technology University.
