Alejandro (“Alex”) Zubillaga is a private venture capital investor focused on the consumer Internet space.
Currently, Alex serves on the boards of directors of Tango, Lyst, CrowdSurge, and Wahanda, and is associated with 8tracks, Songkick, Spotify, and viagogo. Alex has also funded a number of companies which have experienced successful exits, including: Mendeley (sold to Reed Elsevier); Social Guide (sold to Nielsen); and, Viki (sold to Rakuten).
Previously, Alex was executive vice president, digital strategy and business development at Warner Music Group (WMG), where he was responsible for developing and overseeing WMG's global digital business. Through a series of ground-breaking partnerships, Alex established WMG as the clear digital leader in the music industry. Before joining WMG, he was a co-founder of Lexa Partners, which led the buyout of WMG from Time Warner. From 1995 to 2000, Alex was founder and chairman of Net Uno, a leading Venezuelan cable television and broadband operator. Alex was named a “Young Global Leader” by the World Economic Forum and he is a senior advisor to GF Capital Management & Advisors, LLC, a leading New York-based private equity firm. He holds a BS in Business Administration from Babson College.
