Alex de Carvalho

Alex de Carvalho is a new-media consultant, speaker, and educator who advises businesses on their use of social networks and social media to build community relationships and brand.

He is an adjunct professor at the University of Miami, where he teaches social media at the School of Communication.

He is the co-founder of StartPR, an online tracking service for reputation management, blogger relations, and brand monitoring.

As an advisor to non-profit organizations creating change through media and film, he is currently working with the Knight Center for International Media, including OneWater, a network of journalists and media experts dedicated to illuminating issues arising from the lack of safe and accessible water in developing countries.

Alex organizes regular South Florida tech meetups, including RefreshMiami, BarCampMiami, and MobileMondayMiami.
