Spark Capital is a small, collaborative team that takes pride in their strong relationships with each other and their entrepreneurs. They believe there should be ‘venture’ in venture capital; they like risk and are not afraid to take it. Their team is in Boston, New York, and San Francisco, and they invest wherever they see the right opportunities.

Spark has lead the early funding of many leading companies including Tumblr (acquired by Yahoo!), Oculus VR (Acquired by Facebook), Adap.tv (acquired by AOL), AdMeld (acquired by Google), OMGPOP (acquired by Zynga), and Twitter (NYSE: TWTR).

Their sweet spot is early stage startups, generally leading the first venture round, with a focus on Internet and mobile investments. They will also invest as little as $500,000 to partner closely with a founder at the seed stage or as much as $25,000,000 to help an emerging winner establish category leadership. From first-time founders to seasoned entrepreneurs, they support passionate individuals who aim to transform important markets or create entirely new ones.

Founded in 2005, Spark Capital manages approximately $1.8b across five funds. Their fund size also allows us to stick with a company through the tough times and larger rounds. They are currently investing Spark IV, a $450m fund raised in 2013 and Spark Capital Growth Fund, a $375m fund raised in 2014.
