Smart appliances for the home chef

Detailed Description

Palate helps people create amazing meals at home through a portfolio of connected cooking devices. The Smart Skillet is a precision contact grill controlled via tablet to cook steak, chicken, fish, eggplant or mushrooms perfectly every time. Our software interface lets you set parameters tailored to your palate, just like a restaurant: NY strip steak, medium rare. We are passionate about food and see great potential to revolutionize the kitchen where we are still in the Paleolithic: putting mastodon meat into the fire and wondering why it comes out sometimes burnt, sometimes raw. An amazing meal at Alinea introduced the founders to the technique of sous vide. We have adopted its power for the mass market to bring truly smart devices into the home kitchen. Our user experience lead Tog was recruited by Jobs to be Apple’s first human interface designer and Don wrote the product design classic: Design of Everyday Things. This UX dream team is joined by Mark and Eric who won a graduate-level MIT competition together.
