OpenPlay is a platform to connect sports venues to their customers. It allows any sports facilities to instantly take online bookings , payments and manage their customers. The USP is that it also markets any gaps to increase their revenue, similar to the OpenTable model for restaurants.
The service launched in beta in February 2013 at a handful of London school and council sports facilities and has over 40 facilities with online booking as of February 2014.
They have recently announced funding and a partnership with Ordnance Survey, focusing on getting people active in open spaces. Through this partnership they are reinventing the park notice board to allow easy sports facility and activity booking, plotted on to virtual maps. This will help remove huge barriers to getting active.
