Founded in 2010, joiz is a revolutionary concept in broadcasting and interactivity for young people. A few years back, a couple of daring Swiss media pioneers sought to create a service that seamlessly fuses television with the web, social media and mobile platforms. After bringing on board some visionary investors, the two executives began plans to launch the first-ever social TV experience.
joiz truly reflects how young people interact today. It fully utilises the second screen: computers, tablets and smart phones are a key part of the joiz entertainment experience. The first launch of joiz took place in Switzerland in 2011. After achieving some great initial success, joiz took the next leap into Europe by launching in summer 2013 in Germany. With entirely separate programming created for local audiences, it is seen in 90% of German TV households.
But what is joiz? Is it a TV channel, a website, a social network or a mobile service? joiz is all of them combined into one great entertainment proposition that places young people at the heart of everything we do. In fact, at joiz we don’t call them viewers or users – we call them our “viewsers”.
joiz produces the majority of its content and has created the most sophisticated broadcast technology infrastructure, converging and monetising the worlds of online, mobile, social media and television. This is the first time an entertainment company has incorporated the most advanced technological developments to super-serve youth audiences across all platforms.
joiz collaborates closely with brands and advertisers and integrates them into this new and exciting world in intelligent and entertaining ways. This incorporates gamification, the inclusion of gaming mechanics that stimulate and enhance user engagement. This is particularly beneficial for advertisers and marketing partners who are provided with access to the kind of big data that traditional broadcasters cannot offer.
