Guidebox is a movie and television API which solves the problem "Where can I stream or purchase this...?" often heard by a broad set of web, iOS, and Android users. With over 100 streaming and purchase sources supported, the Guidebox API is the most definitive solution for solving this problem. An ever-growing list of movie and TV apps and websites supported in the API include Hulu, Amazon, iTunes, Netflix, all major broadcast networks (ABC, NBC, CBS), all major cable channels (AMC, HBO, Showtime) and many others. With one click the user can purchase or stream directly on their computer, mobile device, or send to Airplay or Chromecast for playback on the big screen.
With the Guidebox API, developers can easily enable end-to-end movie and TV discovery within their website or native iOS or Android application. We are currently building features which will initiate playback smart TVs through their APIs and SDKs. We are also in discussions with several TV manufacturers, TV platforms, data providers, app developers, website developers and others to expand the Guidebox API footprint. Our goal is to enable discovery and playback on any screen from any device (cross-device and cross-platform). The Guidebox API is in private beta which more than 285 invite requests in the queue from a wide variety of potential partners. We have 5 live API partners at this time.
In addition to the Guidebox API, we have a consumer facing website http://www.guidebox.com/. The primary function of the Guidebox website is as a demonstration of the API. You can access the Guidebox website from iOS, Android and Web to get customized playback experiences for that particular device.
