CleverMiles have developed a system of interactive driver monitoring, education and incentivisation which aims to reduce road traffic accidents and save lives.
The system incorporates a small hardware device which collects information from the car’s engine. By using various metrics CleverMiles translate that data into powerful intuitive information where it can be accessed through a phone app or on a web dashboard. CleverMiles is an internationally scalable company with potential in lucrative markets.
The solution was developed with An Gardaí, the Road Safety Authority of Ireland and an international insurance company.
CleverMiles initially began as “Project Hermes”, a college project developed in IT Sligo to compete in the Microsoft Imagine Cup 2011, the world’s largest student technology competition. The team beat over 350,000 other students, winning the Irish regional finals in Dublin and global finals in New York.
Stemming from this success CleverMiles was founded in February 2012 as a Limited Liability Company in Ireland. Since the company was founded CleverMiles competed to achieve a place on Startupbootcamp accelerator programme in Dublin, a European wide network of programmes and Tech Stars affiliate. After 3 intense months of mentor ship and business development the company graduated in May 2012.
CleverMiles has also recently reached the finals of the Castrol Innoventures 20/20 Challenge, an international competition for starts up to find companies that could help Castrol address global challenges it has identified. The company reached the top five finalists against over 500 entries. In July CleverMiles reached the finals of the Blueface Elevator competition, an Irish national competition to find the best start-up in Ireland.
James Mc Namara, CleverMiles CO- Founder and CEO has recently returned from Sydney Australia where he was invited by Microsoft as a guest speaker at the opening Ceremony of the 10th Annual Microsoft Imagine Cup.
