Launched in late 2006, CafeMom now welcomes over 9 million unique visitors each month to its community just for moms (ComScore, September 2011). CafeMom hosts, programs and moderates hundreds of community groups that include Pregnancy, Love & Marriage, Recipes for Busy Moms, Military Moms, and many more.

In January 2012, CafeMom launched CafeMom Studios, a part of YouTube's content initiative offering video programming made with moms in mind. Shows range from Suzanne Somers' Breaking Through to interviews with presidential candidates as part of CafeMom's Moms Matter 2012 initiative.
In 2012, CafeMom launched MamásLatinas, a bilingual online destination dedicated serving Latina with community and content.
CafeMom was founded by Andrew Shue and Michael Sanchez. Lead investors are Highland Capital Partners and Draper Fisher Jurvetson.
