Robot electronics for hobbyists

Description

Update

Alphalem is buildling Rex, a single-board computer that is specifically designed for advanced hobby-level robotics. It is similar in concept to the BeagleBoard, BeagleBone, and Raspberry Pi, but offers several advantages. These advantages include: direct inputs for large power supplies and batteries (6-12V/20A max.), smaller form factor (2.3" x 2.8"), expand-ability via I2C ports, camera port for direct connection between a camera and the on-chip digital signal processor (DSP). On the software side, they supply a robotics-oriented operating system with included device drivers and libraries for necessary peripherals such as USB Wi-Fi dongles, and communication to connected devices via the I2C expansion ports. Finally, their website will be hosting expansive tutorials and guides for how to build an advanced robot around our platform.
