Caspian Advisors was set up in December 2004 by S Viswanatha Prasad as an investment management company focused on managing investment funds in the microfinance space. In May 2005, Caspian and three foreign social investors came together to set up India’s first microfinance equity fund in the private sector – The Bellwether Microfinance Equity Fund. More recently, in Aug 2008, Caspian was appointed as advisors to an offshore microfinance equity fund – The India Financial Inclusion Fund
