Zynga

Zynga is a network of gaming applications built off of classic games like Poker, Battleship, and Attack!. The games are found on social networks like Facebook and Bebo.

In addition to making their own games, the company has created a network which allows third party developers to become part of the Zynga network. Zynga claims to be the largest social game network on the web with self published numbers of 1.3 million daily active users and 20 million registered users (as of 7/08).

Among the site’s founders is Tribe founder Mark Pincus.

Zynga offers a variety of games that live on multiple social networks and websites, including Facebook, Bebo, and meebo. Once a game application is downloaded, a user can begin to invite friends to play and also chat with them while playing. Zynga’s game library includes Texas Hold ‘Em, Blackjack, and Battleship among others.

In February 2008, Zynga opened its network to third-party game publishers and developers. Their initial partners include Sierra Online, Bigpoint and Come2Play.

Zynga is a scam. They take your money and roll back your stats every time you update. Many of their 3rd party points are also scam companies (ie: mygreenteaextreme) who are under Federal investigation for fraud. Don't waste your time on ANY Zynga application. It's dangerous.

Playing poker on Zynga through Facebook offers no chance of having a secure account. On April 11, 7.6 Billion poker chips were stolen from me. Yes, I was ranked #5 in the world on Facebook. I am pretty computer savvy as well, and was certainly not "phished". I cleared my cache regularly, and had only one email associated with Facebook that was created while privacy was set to hidden, and was never opened. My Facebook password was insanely strong, never stored, and only entered on Facebook's secure login page. Even if the hacker somehow discovered my Facebook email account, my password was simply not vulnerable. Here is what it was, in fact, "Cv!t42G4l!n@2K4ty@NL)b4" This either was an inside job, or it is simply not possible to have a secure account. 7.6 Billion chips stolen and I too have had no assistance on this matter yet despite being able to pinpoint the time of the breach to within an 8 hour window.

Don't get your hopes up for *any* sort of quality or response from Zynga. And for the love of all that's holy, *don't* send them any money. They have an "F" rating from the BBB.

Zynga customer support is a complete joke at best. I had over 200 MILLION chips hacked out of my account, my facebook password and email password stolen and zynga hasn't done squat about it. I got contacted a second time from the person WHO hacked my accounts and sent them the proof and still haven't heard back. I've sent 4 emails -- called twice and all I have received is some bullshit message saying they will contact me in 24 hours. I can't believe the complete disregard they take for customers security who use their applications. Obviously, these hackers are stealing from alot of people and making money off selling the chips they take. However...if I want to log in and BUY chips from Zynga -- well that is processed immediately! hahaha..... Zynga --- is a complete fraud and joke....they do nothing to help their customers. I've read countless accounts of many people who have had the same problems with them. You think....by now....THEY'D do something to fix it....Zynga it's about time we expose you for what you are.....
karen - April 2, 2009 at 4:30pm
I had over 1,000,000 chips stolen out of my account, my facebook password stolen and my hotmail password stolen all from playing poker with a Zynga application. I have emailed them twice about it and have had no response, except that they will be in touch with me on the matter 24-72 hours. It has been 2 weeks and still nothing. I have made the smart decision just to delete them off my account.I have also copy and pasted every bad thing written about them and sent it to all my friends so they can see why they should be deleted as well!
John speaks for most MW gamers - March 8, 2009 at 2:25pm
I cant even listen to that guy. Zynga has shown time & time again that profit is more important than anything, including the players that pay them. I wont even list all the bugs becuase its an endless list! I WANT to enjoy the game, but if you dont start respecting your players, you WILL fail. I know money is more important to you that anything but half of us grew up on Pac Man (no glitches in pac man, btw),, how long do you think we'll tolerate this silly lil "game"??????? YOU SIMPLY DONT CARE! do you think GTA would still be here if it locked up every day?? NO! remember how long it took for Final Fantacy VII to come out??? it took that long so it wouldnt be full of bugs!
JJ - February 27, 2009 at 12:00pm
Mafia Wars is the biggest waste of time. The only way to win is to sucker more friends into playing or pay zynga a fortune to get "reward" points (now your the sucker). You would be better off pushing Avon products.
stephen vandoren - February 12, 2009 at 11:28am
mafia wars is a blast id love to get more godfather points faster
Smilie - January 28, 2009 at 9:25pm
This game has too many faults or is it a scam as too often it freezes when I bet a large amount $500+ and $1300+ and other amounts so I end up not able to play so lose my money bet! It always seems to happen on big bets so what's with that! It's annoying and I am very close to deleting this game and telling all my friends not to bother playing it as it's a scam designed to take peoples money!
jimmyshaft - January 23, 2009 at 4:52pm
Question #1 to Zynga: Hey! I want to know if these three user profiles may have exploited security vulnerabilities in your system. Their statistics do not make sense. Please validate users A, B, C. Zynga Support Response (2 weeks later): Sorry for the delay! Here's our FAQ, dumb ass. Question #2 to Zynga: Are you really forwarding me your FAQ rather than answering my question? If I go by it, I am to believe that your newly implemented security controls allow you to be invulnerable. Is that what your saying? Zynga Support Response (2 weeks later): Sorry for the delay! Here's our FAQ! I hope that it helps, dumb ass, but please feel free to e-mail us back again so that we can send you our FAQ. Have you read it? Final Response to Zynga: OMG you guys seriously suck! Thanks for nothing, dumb asses.

Mafia Wars on Facebook is HORRENDOUS....avoid @ all costs! The game has been virtually unplayable for a week now and there is no end in sight to their continued madness and incompetence! Zynga...quantity not quality!!
Akilah - January 16, 2009 at 5:13am
Zynga has been practicing internet censorship. In their game Yoville, they deleted the discussion board when players started complaining about their new policy of having to pay real money to buy new stuff in the game. If you complain about this in the game, they ban you from speaking. We've been complaining for months about having to deal with sexual predators, racism, scamming and hacking in the game. We asked for more moderators to help curb these problems and never got any. Not even a response from Zynga. Weirdly enough, we suddenly have an onslaught of moderators in the game to silence those who speak out against Zynga. I have to compare their actions to that of the mob....if we don't like what you're saying, we'll shut you up. There are several problems with the game like crashing, freezing, unable to join, unable to work, disappearing items and other problems. None of these issues were addressed because Zynga obviously was not trying to improve their product quality. Instead they're focused on developing ways to increase profits and lose loyal customers.

If you are anything like me, you're fed up with the continued crap fest that is Mafia Wars. The code is broken almost weekly nowdays. Zynga doesn't listen to complaints. They just don't care. They treat us like lab rats, testing code on a production site rather than setting up a beta test server like almost any other web developer on the planet would do. Here is what I suggest. Complaining to Zynga falls on deaf ears. Let's start to go after Zygna where they will really feel it, on the balance sheet. Let's all start contacting their financial backers, Kleiner Perkins and telling KP what kind of crappy product Zynga is producing. Let's see if we can't get KP to start pressuring Zynga to shape up or they will pull their financing. Here is a link that gives you all the information you need to contact people: http://www.techcrunch.com/2008/07/22/zynga-raises-29-million-b-round-led-by-kleiner-perkins-and-buys-virtual-world-facebook-app-yoville/ Scroll down, click on the Kleiner Perkins website and then use the "contact us" area to send your complaints about Zynga directly to KP who back Zynga financially. Zynga, the time is now to shape up. Your players have had enough and aren't going to tolerate your crap product anymore.

Zynga is obviously incompetent in the common knowledge of how to provide customer service to their players. As a result of their inept ways, they're constantly losing the players that keep them in business. I currently play Triumph and I am about ready to walk away, the only thing holding me back is that I love the game. I have had the same error message for almost two weeks now when I try to log in, and yet, Zynga doesn't respond to my emails nor phone calls. I know this isn't surprising to all of the gamers who have had similar situations with Zynga, but it does surprise me that such a large company would be so disrespectful to the people who keep them working. I think I should send them the book Customer Service for Dummies, although it probably would end up being a waste of my money.

If anyone paid money to play ANY Zynga game -- the old adage stands true... "A fool and his money are soon parted!" I will never, I repeat NEVER pay to play an online game EVER -- especially if it comes from ZYNGA! Support sucks, Games are buggy and the company execs run off with the money you give them. I am one of many who have not paid to play any Zynga game -- and will never do so -- ZYNGA SUCKS BIG FAT DONKEY DICK!!
BBB - December 14, 2008 at 5:45pm
Try contacting the BBB (bbb.org). It looks like they have had to deal with these guys in the past. They'll help you as best they can. If nothing else, Zynga will get such a bad rep that maybe the Calif. AG will get involved.

Zynga and it's affiliate sites are operating a level 3 tiered Spam marketing site. If you pay to gain certain game priviledges, points, or otherwise called "Rewards", you are being targeted as a potential customer. To avoid the situation, to only course of action that is sactionable via legal recourse, is to forfiet game play, and avoid the site. While this might not seem appealing, it is however, the only recourse. Approach and play at your own risks, as this site is about spam advertisementals.

I SIGNED UP FOR AN OFFER ON SEPT.19 TO GET 300 REWARD POINTS FOR MAFIA WARS (BLOCKBUSTER DEAL), COMPLETED MY OFFER AND NEVER GOT THE POINTS, OR AN EMAIL, OR NOTHING, THESE PEOPLE JUST WON'T ANSWER MY EMAILS, I'M VERY FRUSTRATED, WHAT CAN I DO??
Rod - October 15, 2008 at 1:52pm
I like Zynga's games, but they have zero support. I had 400k chips stolen from me not more than an hour after buying them. I've opened 3 tickets and no response yet. I've emailed their cust. svc. dept (as well as any exec's who left their email on the Zynga site) and no response. The cust. svc. phone number just states no ones available and sends you to a full mailbox then promptly disconnects you. I'll never touch their products again!!
Troy - October 11, 2008 at 11:58am
Missing Points! So at this point I think we actually have a legal recourse for not getting our reward points. Since they have the option of purchasing points and having you pay to play the game that way. When they don't reward your point and ignore the emails to have the missing points added. So I say class action suit, or just put a lean on the company. It doesn't have to be big. Just enough to stop them from adding companies to expand or selling until they've paid you for the time you spent on their applications that Zynga didn't pay you back in reward points for. All you have to do is take the amount of un-rewarded points and figure how much it would cost you to buy them and that is what Zynga owes you!
Josh - September 30, 2008 at 4:36pm
This is a truly brilliant and dare I say evil marketing tool... I wish I had thought of this. Users get hooked on these stupid little games, that encourage them to drag their friends along. Mafia Wars for instance, users need to build their, "mafia", and the more the merrier (in fact you need a large crew to participate in many aspects of the game) as they're all being encouraged to earn, "godfather points" by buying 3rd party products and filling out time consuming surveys and giving out their personal information... directly to...wait for it...the spammers. I cannot imagine what the ad revenue is on something like this, especially as it feeds into the highly lucrative 14-30 something market. What you do with your time is your own business, just know that you're being exploited, of course, if you couldn't figure that one out for yourself well...God bless you anyway.

Yea I signed up for the 5 posters for 25 dollar deal. It was worth 200 reward points That was like 3 weeks ago. I got the posters but I really want my godd$mn points. To the pissed off gentleman, Go ahead and file that complaint but we need to make a joint one. I'm sure there are plenty of others in the same boat as us.
Bizzle - July 22, 2008 at 2:30pm
I don't think you can hit marked men for a few reasons. As we know myspace.com and it's applications get bogged down when a lot of users are playing. My point is that the website is slow to begin with. You also have to factor in that some people have faster internet connections. Beyond that you have to consider that some people have faster computers with faster hard drives. It's those people who hit the marked men. They probably have him killed before he even loads on your screen and because of that you will never get him. Unfortunately, in this came it a major contributer to your income and you will always be at a disadvantage.
devon - July 15, 2008 at 2:18pm
Have to agree with everybodys comments. I think mafia wars is way better than mobsters...just lately its been having some serious issues. Cant even load the main homepage now., not to mention that when you do actually load the page, you have accumulating problems with the game itself.
Tommy - July 15, 2008 at 1:41pm
Mafia wars has been quite entertaining but has some major issue's. I have a steady income coming in but sometimes when I logg off for the night and show up in the morning to see how much cash I have acumalated and there is zero dollars. WTF not to include the major problems on trying to click on jobs or the bank etc, and the page doesn't even load. For being 2008 I would expect people who design this software to check out the bugs before they put it out. Maybe thats just common sense I don't know but get it right
tsclayton - July 14, 2008 at 6:40am
please please fix mafia wars i am in the boat with others i like mafia wars wars better than mobsters but unfortunately mobsters works properly and am about to delete the app so please fix it yo are loosing people with the problems it is having
Jeremy Swanson - July 13, 2008 at 6:25pm
I have the same issues with Mafia Wars. At random, links will stop working, I can click on Jobs and it will go there but then if I click on Weapons, it just won't go to the weapons page. I often have to log out and back in and then other pages will be locked out like that. I'm sure it has to do with flaky JavaScripting. I use a Mac and have had the same issues in Safari, Opera, Camino, OmniWeb and Firefox. I've also not been able to deposit money into the bank even having over the $10,000 minimum, logged out, switched browsers and after logging back in, it's the first place I went and was able to open a bank account. Very flaky JavaScript... it is too bad :(
