Where usual office documents deliver a fixed presentation of data, agile documents present knowledge in the form and detail you need and understand it without copying or retyping information.
Office documents deliver a file based, fixed presentation of data and know nothing about the information they contain. Agile documents utilize distributed information and know everything about the information, relationship and semantics they store but know only little about presentation.
This allows agile documents to reuse, combine, embed and re-interpret given information for any context in any form and detail.
