Yoostar is a portable movie studio / green screen game which provides an experience like karaoke for the movies (movieoke, if you will), where users can insert themselves alongside real actors into scenes from actual movies such as Animal House, Blues Brothers, The Godfather, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Forrest Gump, Rocky, etc and TV shows such as Mad Men.
With the Yoostar green screen, webcame, and software, users can place themselves in a movie the way TV meteorologists appear in front of a weather map.
After users create performance videos of themselves appearing in movie scenes, they can upload the clips to the Yoostar website, a robust social media site with profiles, blogs, etc – http://www.yoostar.com – and also share them by embedding them on Facebook.
The $170 Yoostar system consists of a remote control, software, a USB webcam and stand, plus a 6- by 6-foot “green screen” similar to those used in real studios.
Yoostar went on sale last week at Bloomingdale’s, with Best Buy to follow. The product is also for sale on Yoostar.com
