Wikia

Wikia provides hosting, support, and development for wiki-based communities. The Wikia Gaming Network maintains many of the largest gaming wikis, including WoWWiki, the World of Warcraft wiki with more than 75,000 articles. Wikia also hosts Wikianswers, a collaborate question and answer site.

Jimmy Wales, the founder of Wikipedia, founded Wikia with Angela Beesley. Wikia is independent of Wikipedia and uses a for-profit model with ad revenues. Its main competitors include Wetpaint, pbworks, and Socialtext.

The site uses the same wiki software application as Wikipedia called MediaWiki.
