WeGame

WeGame is a new website that provides the tools for gamers to share screencasts of their favorite in-game moments.

Capturing screencasts is a difficult problem in general as recording software tends to bog down the system affecting gameplay. WeGame addresses the issue by providing a free desktop client to its users that works with DirectX to capture screencasts from within games without slowing them down significantly. It also outputs those screencasts to AVI files that are small enough for quick uploading to the web. WeGame’s desktop client is currently for Windows only, as most games are built on top of Microsoft’s DirectX technology. The company is also working to provide a recorder for casual games that are played through the browser. The website itself is very similar to most other video sharing sites out there – users are free to browse, search, and comment on videos – with the exception that WeGame is focused solely on game screencasts.
