Webjam

Webjam is a community of personal pages based around aggregating and sharing content. Personal pages have modules for blogs, community, media, tools, widgets, etc. The modules can easily be drag-and-dropped using their AJAX editor or they can be copied from another users’ personal page and added to your own.

Users have full control over who can view and use their modules. Modules can be set for public sharing, visible only to friends and registered users, or kept private. Webjam is very similar to Ning in that each personal page can be created to be a central group page for other users to attach to. For instance, you could create a group page for Nascar fans and other Nascar fans could connect their own personal pages or Nascar pages.

Webjam is similar to Netvibes and Pageflakes.

Webjam is an incredibly aggressive company in its stratergy. Their product isn't exactly unique and only really suits those who don't want to create a site for themself in the true sense. I guess its good for what it is but I have been involved with them and found their way of dealing with people when they sense a business opportunity to be at best rude and at worst purely unprofessional.

We've chosen Webjam's platform to launch our online community of professionals working in music education. The potential is obviously enormous and I'm very excited about it!

Webjam is a fantastic product and probably the most powerful that I have used. I would highly recommend giving it ago, especially with their new release being launched shortly!
