With the ambition of becoming the DoubleClick of audio advertising, Voodoovox has spread its in-call radio ad solution to over 400 radio stations across Northern America. Voodoovox optmizes dead air time during the time in which radio callers or potentially anyone is on hold. Instead of hearing “thanks for calling, your call is important to us” or completely dead air radio stations can publish paid for advertising. Each ad lasts for 15 seconds or so, but ads can play for the entire hold period. Ads are paid on a CPM basis at around $10-15 per 1,000 impressions.
Although Voodoovox only reaches an audience of public switched telephone networks (PSTN lines), CEO J. Scott Hamilton sees no reason why the company cannot expand to the burgeoning VoIP market and any place where audio ads are appropriate.
