Absolute Radio is a UK based radio station and media presence whose charter is to play classic album tracks and today's best music. The station was the UK's first national commercial pop music station and continues to be the only national commercial pop station today.
The station used to be known as Virgin Radio and was sold to the
publisher of the Times of India from SMG for £53.2m ($105.3m) on May 31, 2008. SMG, the Scottish broadcaster, sold the national AM license and FM London license to TIML Golden Square, a subsidiary of Bennett Coleman, the Indian publisher.
