Viagogo

Viagogo is an online event ticket marketplace for secondary buyers and sellers. If you have extra football or concert tickets that you want to unload than Viagogo is the place to go. Users can list tickets, browse event listings by category or purchase tickets. Viagogo adds a ten percent service charge to buyers’ prices and takes a fifteen percent commission on sellers’ prices.

The site’s interface is simple and easy to navigate on first visit, especially if you have used competitor StubHub before. Viagogo founder Eric Baker was also StubHub’s founder.

Viagogo is an official secondary reseller of Cleveland Browns football tickets. The site provides ticket sellers a great venue for selling to more mainstream ticket buyers with its professional look and providing a buffer between buyers and sellers. Most people don’t trust barebones marketplaces with direct communication between buyers and sellers like Craigslist to participate in the secondary ticket marketplace.

Viagogo was founded in 2005 and launched in mid-2006. Competitors include StubHub, Craigslist and Ticketmaster’s TicketExchange.

Buying tickets on Viagogo is a breeze. Buyers can look up their favorite musicians, sports teams and Broadway shows by name and a list of event dates and venues appears.

When buyers choose the date and venue of the event they want to attend a page with specific ticket information like section, seats and price comes up. All they have to do is choose the specific tickets they want, enter their purchase information and the seller will be notified to ship the tickets.

Most sellers are still in possession of the tickets at purchase so buyers are depending on them to ship. However, Viagogo requires sellers to have a credit card on store to minimize seller fraud.

Selling tickets on Viagogo is effortless. Sellers search for the specific event they want to sell tickets for by browsing the event categories or by using the search box. When they find the specific event they enter their ticket information like section, seats and price and a credit card for buyer fraud protection.

Sellers can choose different listing types like fixed price, auction or declining price. They then set their ticket price with the fifteen percent Viagogo service charge in mind and are finished with the process. All sellers have to do is wait for the sell confirmation email because Viagogo takes care of shipping costs and customer service.
