Ustream.tv is a live video community for everyone. Anyone with a computer, an Internet connection and a web cam can set up their own channel and broadcast live (similar to Justin.tv). The site launched in March 2007, much earlier than expected to try to capitalize on all of the press surrounding Justin.tv.
The site has attracted tech celebs Robert Scoble and Chris Pirillo.
Ustream can be used by many different kinds of people for many different purposes. “Already we have seen bloggers, podcasters, radio stations, DJ’s, citizen journalist, talk show hosts, celebrities, rock bands, entertainers, comedians, churches, political candidates, government officials, conferences, event sponsors, record labels, television networks, colleges, university organizations, fraternities, sororities, charities, community groups, websites, civic groups, priests, monks, bird lovers, ghost hunters, dog watchers, weddings, lifecasters, professionals and amateurs.”
Other live broadcasting sites include Stickam, Mogulus and BlogTv

With Ustream.tv anyone with a computer, an Internet connection and a web cam can set up their own channel and broadcast live. While there are other sites that let you broadcast live video, Ustream is really targeting users who want to broadcast 24/7. The site lets users put up a calendar with upcoming activities so viewers know the best time to tune in. In addition, the interface integrates chat so users can type to each other while watching.
Live video can be watched on the site, or embedded onto any other website. Ustream’s flash video player constantly shows how many other viewers are watching the live video feed along with you.
Ustream.tv also has a section for recorded videos, but for some reason a recorded version of a guy sleeping just isn’t as interesting as watching it live.
