UICO is a ISO9001:2008, US-based touchscreen manufacturing company. The company makes duraTOUCH® PCap touchscreens and duraTOUCH® PCap Surface. UICO is also the maker of its proprietary, patent-pending firmware (including waterSENSE®, and gloveSENSE®), hardware, manufacturing processes, and adhesives.
In the midst of the touch revolution brought about by Apple’s iPhone®, the company’s co-founders recognized that every company could provide a better user experience if PCap touchscreens were more robust. The company was founded in 2007 to make PCap touch solutions that work in harsh environments of use. With a team of talented, passionate people, they developed UICO’s highly-evolved PCap technology.
Backed by Chicago-based Hyde Park Angels, an investment group founded through the University of Chicago, and leveraging a strategic partnership with Cypress Semiconductors (NYSE: CY), duraTOUCH® quickly attracted key customers including McDonald’s. Production of McDonald’s McCafe machine with duraTOUCH® touchscreens began in 2009.
Today, the company is VC backed by Plymouth Venture Partners. PVP is an Ann Arbor venture firm that specializes in investing in the manufacturing space. Today, UICO’s touch solutions are deployed in products of some of the world’s best companies OEM companies across automotive, appliance, industrial, marine, medical, military and wearables markets.
