| Description | Promoting Causes through Twitter |
Twibbon is a Twitter application that promotes awareness about causes by overlaying icons onto supporters’ profile images. Causes can be anything from charitable and political initiatives, to product worship and brand allegances, to support for popular musicians or sporting figures.
Once a Twitter user has created or joined a cause, Twibbon notifies their followers with a tweet, linking to the ‘join’ page and encouraging support for the cause.
Twitter users can use the ‘Profile’ function to review their full Twibbon history and alter their profile image. Aside from creating and joining causes, users can also replace and revert to previous Twibbons.
Twibbon was founded in July 2009 by Storm Ideas.
