TouchCast is an integrated platform for the creation and playback of interactive videos. It is foundational technology for the future of the video web, the next phase of the internet’s evolution.

TouchCast’s Authoring Suite is a real-time compositing engine that allows creators to embed interactive elements - web pages, documents, videos, pictures - into the video image content itself. We call these interactive elements Video Apps (vApps), active HTML objects inside the video. The TouchCast Player allows the viewer to interact with the elements of the video independently of one another while remaining within the primary video experience

TouchCast is different from the “widget” or “overlay” approach to video interactivity such as you see with video annotations. In those approaches, the interactivity is a function of a separate server environment layered on top of the video. With TouchCast, we’ve invented and patented a composting approach that fuses the interactive elements into the video itself. That has far-reaching consequences for both authoring and consumption.

Fundamentally, touchcasts are a new medium and TouchCast empowers anyone—from a first-time blogger to a movie studio—to create and watch stunningly multi-layered and hyperinteractive videos.
