Tonka Beans is an online creator, aggregator and distributor of video-based money management and investing-related information to and for women.

The company’s objective is to raise women’s interest in, knowledge of & confidence in personal money management to make investing a priority. We accomplish this in two ways - by:

• Producing free videos and blogs that simplify investing and money management issues to make them compelling and relevant for women of all backgrounds
• Hosting a social networking platform that allows women to share their concerns, thoughts and views about money matters.

We target professional, urban, educated women between the ages of 24 & 45 earning $ 60K or above with a sweet spot in the 28-35 age range. To reach our demographic, we produce three video series:

• “Arm Yourself” – to educate women about some of the basics of saving and investing
• “Views From The Street” – to promote women’s opinions on money-related issues making the Headlines
• “Someone Like You” – to showcase the financial realities of “everyday” women striving for financial independence

What’s Behind the Name? In magic, Tonka beans are said to be “feminine”, equated to the planet Venus and water. They’re believed to bring their carriers prosperity, good fortune and even luck in matters of love.

They originate from the Kumaru tree in South America and are often used as a substitute to vanilla and in perfume.
