Theorem Ventures

Theorem Ventures makes seed & angel investments in start-ups with the potential to become great.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR - Theorem invests $15,000 to $150,000 or more in start-up and mid-stage Internet, social media, mobile and deep technology companies. We invest in solid and resilient founders with a great idea, a thoughtful plan and a team who can execute. A clearly defined market and a lead on competitors. Lean and agile operations; efficient cost structures. Plus a flexible range of liquidity options. If your company and Theorem could be a good fit, please email us at hello@theoremventures.com.

BACKGROUND - We love start-ups and talented entrepreneurs. Theorem partners Andy Getsey and James Hannon started with an investment in the IPO of MP3.com, and have made 19 additional select investments with 7 exits to date.

In addition to investing, Andy and James have advised on the positioning, messaging and PR/digital/social aspects of the launch, growth stages & exits of more than 100 companies including Dropbox, Smule, Leap Motion, Automatic, Sokanu, 9Squared, OuterBay, Photobucket, Rapt, Xign, Bebo, Linkedin, Mint.com, Milo, Jobvite, ArcSight, Fusion-io, Moonfruit and more.

Andy and James founded award-winning Tech PR and social media firms Atomic PR, H30 Communications and Random Animal Digital. They also developed the communications analytics platform ComContext(TM), which was a finalist in the 2010 World Technology Awards, in association with the NASDAQ, Fortune and other media. They understand most of the various complexities and challenges all tech-related entrepreneurs face.

The agencies and technology were acquired by Huntsworth, plc in early 2011 in a 5-year, mid 8-figure deal. Both partners remain actively involved in the management of the agency group, which is now part of Grayling - an award winning global firm. Atomic Group has continued to achieve double digit annual growth under Andy and James’ management.

PORTFOLIO - Theorem portfolio companies include Delphix, Smule, Moonfruit, Visual.ly, PageLever/Unified Social, Automatic, Sokanu, Pixt, Zui.com, FundersClub, Trustpipe, Traackr, Chirpify, Raise Labs and others.

GEOGRAPHICS - Theorem is active in San Francisco & Silicon Valley, LA, Orange County, Seattle, New York, Vancouver and London.
